Make Money Online With This Goal Setting Technique

Many people find it difficult to make money online. Frequently this is because they want to see immediate results. When those goals go unmet, they become discouraged and lose interest. When this happens, most people stop doing the work that is necessary to make money online, and as a result, their business fails.

One way to prevent this from happening is to rearrange your priorities and set both long-term and short-term goals. Your long-term goals should be financial. You should set a realistic amount of money that you think you may be able to achieve over the next 3 to 6 months. For the short-term, set marketing goals. These are the techniques that you are going to use on a daily, or weekly basis that will enable you to reach your long-term goals. In this way, you won't get discouraged if you make no money in your first month.

Make sure that your goals are realistic. Contrary to what many sales pages would have you believe, you will not make $5000 per month in your first few months online. Like any other business, you will begin to make money slowly and, if you work hard, your income will grow. As a frame of reference, I made $85 in my first 3 months online.

For the long term, set a goal to make $50 to $100 within 3 months. If you should surpass your goal in 2 months, set a new long-term goal to make $300 over the next 3 months. This type of long-term goal is more realistic. It keeps you focused on a longer time frame.

Your short-term goals should be marketing oriented, not financial. For example, set a short-term goal to:

1. Write 7 articles per week using a good resource box.

2. Make 15 forum postings each week with a quality signature file.

3. Enter 10 blog comments every week and include at least one of your URL's in each comment.

By doing these things each and every week, you should be able to meet your longer-term financial goals. This keeps you focused on doing the work, not the money. And if you do the work consistently, the money will follow.
